There are beautiful places, and then there is western North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Mountains, millenniums old, gently rounded by weather and time, roll soft and green across miles of wilderness. No doubt, there are many fun and quirky bed n’ breakfasts and hotels to be found. But to really experience the land there is truly nothing like camping by a mountain stream teaming with wildlife. At the Old Corundum Millsite Campground in Franklin, North Carolina you will find yourself immersed in absolute serenity and natural splendor. Comfortably accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs you will find yourself wanting for nothing. Just a step into the icy cool Cullasaja River that runs through the campground will confirm your desires to call this heavenly slice of land your temporary home.

Within the confines of Old Corundum Millsite you’ll have everything you need for a wonderfully magical stay. Pet friendly they have amenities such as a fully functional laundry station, a dining pavilion, plenty of picnic tables, awesome designated bonfire pits (with available firewood), and even a great little playground for the kiddies. Feeling a bit funky from your day hike? Their bathhouse is extremely clean and very user friendly. There are also plenty of supplies to be found at the on site Camp Store. With dinner available every night and myriad games and events going on, you may find it hard to leave.

This is the double edged sword that is Old Corundum Millsite. Because you see they are centrally located for oodles of outdoor fun. Most of the fun is within walking distance, at most a short drive through scenic magnificent forest. Try your hand at gem mining (a step back into your childhood with a bucket of dirt and plenty of fresh cold mountain water), or maybe horseback riding, hiking, swimming, white water rafting, even a game of hoops is easily within reach. Those looking for a less strenuous vacation can enjoy a round of golf, bird (and lots of other fauna) watching, sunbathing, antiquing, relaxing walks on well worn foot paths, and a multitude of other activities.

Those with RVs and trailers will find all the necessary amenities such as hook ups for water, electricity, cable television, sewer, and even a handy dump site. Even the tent sites have water and electricity available for your convenience. So depending on your tolerance for all that is natural you can either go hard core and rough it or sleep in style and comfort in your snazzy RV. Old Corundum Millsite Campground is open April 1st through October 31st and even though closed for the winter season, they still throw a heck of an early Christmas party! Quite honestly it’s one of the best family vacations you could ever have. So drop on by, settle down by a waterfall, and watch another glorious western North Carolina day go by. Discover your new “happy place” at Old Corundum Millsite Campground.
