Three Hidden Treasures in the Catskills

If you ever dreamed about finding a beautiful and secluded vacation spot in a country environment, look in the Catskills. If you live in New York or the New England area, taking a vacation to the Catskills will be well worth the trip. It’s an area filled with natural beauty and stunning scenery. The three Catskill accommodations listed below have all received 4.5-star traveler ratings or higher.

We’ll begin with the Catskill Rose Lodge and Dining in Woodstock, which sports a perfect 5-star traveler rating. As the name indicates, this is the place to stay if you enjoy great food. The food here is not only recommended, but raved about by almost every traveler and diner. The restaurant has a large menu, but try the duck above all else. And if you’re a vegetarian, there are plenty of options for you as well. Regardless of what you order, everything is cooked to order with fresh ingredients. This might lead to a slightly longer wait time, but the extra few minutes is well worth it. The only negative for the restaurant is that it’s only open from Thursday through Sunday. As far as the lodge goes, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Every room has a king-size bed and many of the rooms have a balcony. The community courtyard is a nice place to relax and read a book. It should be noted that the Catskill Rose Lodge and Dining is a little bit off the beaten path, but it’s still worth the trip.

Rocking Horse Ranch Resort is located in Highland. This is a beautiful area and Rocking Horse Ranch capitalizes on that beauty. But it’s not the beauty that attracts people to the Rocking Horse Ranch; it’s the staff and activities. This is by far the number one place to stay if you’re traveling with family to upstate New York. The staff here is excellent at keeping everyone happy at all times. Activities include horseback riding, horse carriage rides, tennis, snow tubing, kayaking, and the Big Splash Indoor Water Park. Other popular amenities include an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a playground, a gym, a restaurant, and a bar/café. The icing on the cake is that the food is superb. Rocking Horse Ranch should be considered by all families.

The Roxbury Motel might not sound appealing, but names are often deceiving. The Roxbury Motel is called ‘Roxbury’ because it’s located in Roxbury, New York, not because it’s named after a silly movie. That said, there is something humorous about this property. This used to be a rundown establishment, but it has been vastly improved through the years. For humorous reasons, they have decided to keep some of the old décor. This makes staying at The Roxbury Motel an especially unique experience. Before you get the wrong idea, this ‘motel’ was rated as one of the top hotels in the country by National Geographic. It also has a perfect 5-star traveler rating. The Roxbury Motel is pure country. The wildlife, fresh air, and hiking trails, all make you feel at one with nature. As far as amenities go, you will find a spa, a DVD library, a cocktail lounge, free parking, and free WiFi, but not much else. They like to focus on simplicity and comfort more than amenities. There are 18 units at The Roxbury Motel. They consist of studio rooms, kitchenette rooms, and suites. The type of room you choose will determine the cost of staying at The Roxbury Motel.

You now have all the information you need if you’re looking for a great vacation in the Catskills. If you enjoy amazing food, stay at the Catskill Rose Lodge and Dining. If you’re traveling with family, stay at the Rocking Horse Ranch. And if you want one of the most unique and relaxing experiences of your life, stay at The Roxbury Motel.
