With its unique array of accommodations, Woodlyn Park truly offers a distinctive experience.  Located 2.5 hours away from Auckland, New Zealand, and 2 minutes from the Waitomo Caves it houses 4 unique lodgings.

The Hobbit Motel – With production on the new Peter Jackson “The Hobbit” movie underway, now is the perfect time for all you Tolkien fans to experience the worlds 1st Hobbit Motel.  The Hobbit Motel is a self-contained unit with kitchens, shower/toilet and can accommodate up to 6 people.  Each unit has custom designed furniture and decorations and are made of polystyrene blocks to give them added insulation.  The 2 unique units available each have a separate room with 2 sets of bunks and a double bed in the main living area.  Currently, you can book a night in the Hobbit Motel for $185.

The Waitanic – Formerly a WWII Partrol Boat, this Fairmile Ship built in 1942 in Auckland is the newest attraction at Woodlyn Park.  12 of these boats were built for anti-submarine patrol in the islands during WWII and only a handful survived including this one, formerly named The Motunui.  The ship offers 4 different units.

  • The Captains Room is a 3 level unit with a dining/living room with a couch that folds out to a double bed, full kitchen, small bathroom and own deck.  And that’s just the top level, on the 2nd level there is a master bedroom with queen bed and own deck.  The lower level contains 2 rooms with 2 single beds in each room.  Available at $200 per night (double occupancy, extra persons $15 each)
