Travel Guide: Las Vegas

Las Vegas Destination Guide

What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas and there sure is a lot going on in the city of sin. Today’s Las Vegas is not just a place to gamble (however you can find poker online if you’re unable to make it to Las Vegas) and maybe catch a show, it’s a place you can take the whole family for a fun time with an amazing variety of attractions that are sure to keep you busy. Here are some highlights of what Las Vegas has in store:

Where to go:

Fremont Street Experience (www.vegasexperience.com)
This place packs in every Las Vegas centric activity you could possibly imagine into an action packed five block mecca. You’ve got casinos, restaurants, high tech LED light shows, even a shopping mall. Also expect free outdoor concerts, fabulous street performers, and surprise entertainment at every turn. A great way to dip your toe into the sequined pool that is Las Vegas. Open 24 hours, so feel free to stop by your first night in town and get a taste of the city.

Adventuredome (www.adventuredome.com)
An indoor theme park that offers tons of fun with extremely low ticket prices. Jam packed with huge and exciting rides like the Canyon Blaster, the Inverter, Slingshot, Chaos, and many others. Kid’s rides include the Frog Hopper and the Circus Carousel. A great break from the empty pockets you’ll experience Downtown. See our full article on Adventuredome here.

Las Vegas Natural History Museum (www.lvnhm.org)
Along with dinosaurs and Egyptian treasures, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum brings visitors into the world of the animals of the southwestern United States. Check out coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, big horn sheep and more. There are also live animal exhibits including a fabulous marine life display (the sharks are awesome). This is the ideal daytime visit for family vacations or even a group of friends looking for an out of the ordinary Vegas experience.

What to do:

Gaming Classes at the Las Vegas Hilton (www.lvhilton.com)
Clearly if you are in Las Vegas there is some gambling in your future. Why not get some practice and a little background at the Las Vegas Hilton with their free gaming classes? Typically lasting about half an hour they can’t guarantee you’ll walk home a millionaire, but maybe you’ll have a few extra bucks in your pocket on the way home. Available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays learn the ins and outs of Baccarat, Roulette, Poker, and more. Check ahead with them to see when your favorite is available.

Vintner Grill (www.vglasvegas.com)
Dreamy, modern, and relaxing Vintner Grill offers fresh, casual dining ideal for that special romantic night out. Soft evening breezes together with the canopied outdoor patio only make the meal more special. Each night’s choice is a little different depending on the mood of Chef Matthew Silverman and what seasonal ingredients spark his creative juices. A bistro feel with a subdued elegance, Vintner Grill guarantees a spectacular dinner.

PURE Nightclub (www.purethenightclub.com)
Experience one of the most upscale nightclubs around and take a visit to PURE Nightclub. Inside Caesar’s Palace PURE features two stories and 4 uniquely decorated rooms. Choose between the Red Room, the White Room, the Terrace, and the Pussycat Dolls Lounge. The Red Room is a private V.I.P room decorated in vibrant shades of red mellowed with touches of champagne going over the top to make you to feel like royalty. White Room is the nightclub’s main room for dancing, drinks, and mingling. Tour the Pussycat Doll’s Lounge for flashbacks on the racier side of the 1930s. Then cool down upstairs on the Terrace which grants you the ability to view the famous Vegas Strip from several different viewpoints. See the full article on PURE Nightclub.

What to see:

Liberace Museum (www.liberace.org)
If anyone can be said to personify Las Vegas it would have to be Walter Valentino Liberace. Glitz, glamour, sparkles, the culture of Liberace is the culture of the city. See his famous rhinestone bedazzled grand piano along with 17 of his other favorites and plenty of intricately decorated cars. Then there’s the wardrobe. Oh, the wardrobe! It may be gaudy and ostentatious but that’s what Vegas is all about baby. Highly entertaining, the Liberace Museum is continually one of the favorites among visitors.

Cirque du Soleil (www.cirquedusoleil.com)
Magical, provocative, stunning; anyone who has seen a Cirque du Soleil show can tell you about getting lost in the sinuous movements of its performers. Then of course there are the “OMG” moments where the seemingly impossible happens before your eyes. It’s beauty in motion and well worth catching any one of the many shows they have playing in various venues throughout Las Vegas.

Bellagio Fountain (www.sheddaquarium.org)
Starting its big show at 3 pm, the fountain at the Bellagio is an iconic must see attraction on the Vegas strip. Running every half hour until 7 pm then every 15 minutes between 7 and midnight, there is no excuse not to stop by for a quick, memorable visit. Water plumes dancing perfectly choreographed to changing musical scores, it’s truly amazing and fully entertaining. And the nighttime shows are even better because you have the fantastic phototechnic effects to dazzle your eyes along with the astounding waterworks. It’s the perfect after dinner treat.
