The Baumhaus Hotel in Görlitz, Germany allows guests to spend the night high up in 8 unique tree houses 25+ feet off the ground. Opened in 2005, it claims to be Germany’s first tree house hotel and offers travelers what is most likely to be the highlight of their vacation. All of the tree houses are connected by paths that meet at the celebration platform at the center of the hotel. Enjoy the wonderful sunrise with a morning rinse in the tree top shock shower. All of the tree houses include a little lounge, bed alcove and mini toilette, most of them also have beautiful balconies giving you breathtaking vistas of the adventure park below. Three of the eight also have a full in-suite bathroom and accommodate up to six people. Oh, and of course, being a tree house hotel located in Germany, each house also includes a mini bar fully stocked with delicious beer.
The tree houses are multi-story and each uniquely themed after local myths of fairies & trolls. The houses are designed with a very artistic yet rustic look and feel with interesting design and architectural elements like their unusually shaped windows & furniture as well as brightly painted walls and wallpaper, making them look like something out of a cartoon. Each of the rooms is playfully said to be “inhabited” by the spirit it is themed after. The Fionas Luftschloss tree house for example, is inspired by shiny cheerful elves, it is brightly decorated featuring paintings bound to put a smile on your face as well as a balcony that gives you one of the best views into the Neisse valley. The Judkas Trollfamilienhaus tree house is another one that piqued our interest; it’s the highest of all the houses and is “inhabited” by a family of trolls. It also features an awesome cloud terrace at the top of the house that can only be reached by finding the secret passage.
A stay at the Baumhaus Hotel starts at around $275 per night and includes breakfast, parking and use of the adventure park grounds. The price covers 4 to 6 guests depending on the tree house size. It is a great place to take the whole family and is loaded with things for the kids as well as adults to enjoy. The hotel is open seasonally from the end of March through the end of October. For those who wish to visit the Adventure Park without staying at the hotel tickets are available, a 1 day adult pass will run about $13 and tickets for children 4-16 will run you less than $10 depending on the child’s weight. Family passes and 2 day tickets are also available and give visitors the best value. For reservations or admission tickets, visit the official website.
