In the heart of Poznan, Poland’s fifth largest city and one of its oldest, sits a unique concept-driven art hotel with some of the most distinctive rooms you will find in Europe, Blow Up Hall 5050. Owned by Grażyna Kulczyk, one of Poland’s richest women and avid collector and patron of the arts, the 5 star hotel features 22 luxurious distinctively designed rooms as well as a bar and restaurant. By combining luxury, high tech electronics and exceptional interior design guest can not only experience art but also participate in its creation. Part of Grażyna Kulczyk’s Project 5050, in which 50% of any venture is constituted by art, Blow Up Hall is a combination of art and pleasure.
Upon your arrival you will see that there is no reception area as well as no numbering of its rooms, instead of keys guests are given an iPhone to find and open their bedroom doors using high tech recognition technology. The ebony walled and checkered floor lobby features an amazing collage installation created by local electronic artist Rafael Lozano Hemmer that features 2,400 scrambled CCTV images of guests doing their thing that has been captured by the hidden cameras in the hotel. Yes, you are filmed throughout your entire stay, all the time. Thankfully the footage displayed in the lobby is scrambled enough to obscure what you’ve been up to.
Blow Up Hall offers three different room types, Chic Boutique, Deluxe Boutique and Suite Boutique. Each room is individually designed and feature visual, video and musical displays created by internationally renowned artists. The Chic Boutique rooms feature cutting edge designs with tall ceilings, Bang & Olufsen TV, king sized bed, iPhone docking station along with a power sprinkler shower and toilet. The Deluxe Boutique rooms are slightly larger and themed in chocolate, white or black. They offer all the features of the Chich Boutique rooms but also include large bathrooms with bathtub as well a state of the art power sprinkler shower. There is also an entertaining area with seats and a large coffee table. The Suite Boutique rooms are the largest of all the rooms and offer all of the features the Deluxe Boutique has. Some Suite Boutique rooms also offer courtyard views in addition to the street or hotel atrium views offered by all the others.
The Blow Up Hall 5050 Bar is located in the old buildings of Susznia and gives you an inspiring atmosphere to enjoy a wide range of beverages. From high quality vodkas, brandies and whiskies to various liqueurs, cocktails and soft drinks there is something here for everyone to enjoy. Cigar connoisseurs will also be happy with the selection the bar offers. The hotel restaurant features a variety of delicious Polish cuisine, from hors-d’oeuvre to filling main courses and of course scrumptious desserts, it is truly a gastronomic experience.
