Smack in the middle of Minnesota sits a truly unbelievable bed and breakfast. If the cold Midwestern winters make you think of the fury of the Norse gods, then take shelter at the Viking Inn. Also called the Nordic Inn Medieval Bed and Brew, this fantastic lodge does well to live up to its many names. Located in Crosby, Minnesota, the Viking Inn’s recipe is a little bit history, a little bit fun, a touch of romance, and ta-da; a magic place to relax your cares away. Not just a hotel, Viking Inn’s attention to detail, authentic food, and clever dinner theatre bring the excitement and adventure of history alive for visitors of all ages. So sit back, unwind, and get ready for a stay you will never forget.
The brainchild of Steinarr Elmerson, the idea was to create a place both accessible to the locals, but still exciting for travelers. The building, once a Methodist church, has lent itself perfectly to the medieval theme of this quaint Nordic hideaway. Beautiful stained glass windows, rough hewn stone, and classic wood work all blend together to give a cozy, dream like quality to the surroundings. Each or the five rooms has its own witty take on the Viking theme. There is Odin’s Loft, The Jarl’s den, Freya’s Boudoir, The Locker Room, and The Lookout to choose from and all promise comfortable accommodations and a fun filled Nordic stay. While the wind blows fiercely and the snow rages one may find themselves sitting next to a warm stone fireplace surrounded by new friends or the comfort of an old friend and a good book. Dinner will be delicious, filling, and highly entertaining. The Interactive Dinner Theatre allows you to raid, pillage, burn, honor, and battle all while feasting on scrumptious hors d’ oeuvres, soups, meats, desserts, and of course plenty of mead and ale.
For couples, Viking Inn provides a grand voyage. Their dinner and Jacuzzi evening takes place in the Valhalla rock water spa and features a mélange of mouthwatering appetizers, a fantastic variety of entrees (try the grill your own venison for an exotic treat), and sweet delicious desserts. All this while you are lounging in warm bubbly hot tub waters. After dinner, grab a drink at Asgard; an old-world bar with plenty of games, books, and lively chatter to entertain you all night long. Nordic Inn Medieval Bed and Brew provides a magnificent escape from the every day and still allows the weary traveler a chance to rest up for a day of antiquing or just a nice leisurely walk through the beautiful town of Crosby. Steinarr and his family welcome you with open arms and beckon you to come to the surreal and splendid Viking Inn.
